EzBritz is a small British Shorthair cattery in Hampshire, run by Ross and Paula Davies. This page explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and what you can ask us to do with it. We are the data controller for the information described here.

What we collect

When you enquire about a kitten — through our contact form, by email, by phone or by WhatsApp — we collect your name, email address, telephone number and whatever you choose to tell us about your home and circumstances.

If you reserve a kitten we also collect your postal address and the reference on your bank transfer. We do not see or store your card details, and we never ask for your banking passwords or security codes.

After your kitten goes home we keep a record linking you to that kitten — its registered name, microchip number, date of birth and vaccination history — because we may need it for the rest of your cat’s life.

When you visit the website our host records standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To answer your enquiry and match you with a kitten — because you have asked us to, and because it is in our legitimate interests to run a small cattery responsibly.
  • To fulfil a reservation — to perform the contract between us.
  • To register your kitten and set up its microchip and insurance — to perform that contract, and to meet our legal obligations on microchipping.
  • To keep in touch about your cat, or to contact you if a health issue emerges in its line — our legitimate interest, and frankly our duty as breeders.
  • To send you updates about future litters — only if you have asked us to, and you can stop at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to anyone for marketing. We do pass it on where it is needed to look after your kitten:

  • The GCCF — to register your kitten and transfer it into your name.
  • Petplan — to activate the four weeks of free insurance that comes with your kitten. We do this with your agreement, and Petplan takes no bank details for the free cover.
  • The microchip database — to record you as the keeper, which is a legal requirement.
  • Our vet — where it is relevant to your kitten’s health.
  • Our website host and email provider — who process data on our behalf under contract.

How long we keep it

If you enquire and we do not go ahead, we delete your details within twelve months. If you buy a kitten from us, we keep the record of you and that cat for as long as it is alive and for six years afterwards — partly so we can help you, and partly because health information that emerges years later may matter to you and to the breed.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we are using it, or ask us to restrict it. Just email us and we will deal with it within one month. You will never be charged for asking.

If you have asked to hear about future litters, every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can simply reply and ask us to stop.
